Time to do cleaning. A lot of cleaning. Door panels, seats, clean clean clean. Meguirs and Lexol have some very nice products for cleaning and restoring.
I installed the rear console arm rest storage tray. I had to dress the 10-32 threads in order to get easier install. We found that both the front and rear console covers are missing the catch nut for the hold down strap. New catch nuts are on order.
We replaced the power steering return hose and the supply hose with new pieces. The supply hose has to handle a maximum of 1,300 PSI of hot hydraulic fluid and is routed not all that far from the exhaust manifold. This is a good item for replacement every 10 - 15 years. You can get new hoses from Rock Auto among others.

Sharp eyes will catch that the fuel filter is backwards.

The fuel line from the fuel pump is missing the upset.
With the fuel filter in 1962 positioned above the valve cover, this is no place for fuel leaks.

I reviewed new fuel pumps in stock and compared with an old original. It turns out originals have inlet to discharge displaced 90 degrees and new are 45 degrees. I had thought about changing out the H fuel pump to the old style and reusing the original fuel line but I don't have any fresh old style pumps. Jamie says Mancini Racing and Summit Racing have the old style fuel pump. I checked, but they are $100 to $150 each. If I need to use an old pump I will have Hannaford rebuild it. I found another 62 fuel line in stores, cleaned it and we were able to install it by re-bending it. Now I have a fuel line with the proper upset on the filter end. I reviewed other cars for fuel pumps, and it appears by 63 Chrysler was using the short discharge pipe and the filter down the block below the alternator, so the 45 degree pump can work.

I decided to remove the passenger side front door panel and found the vapor barrier was missing. The door panel is in very good shape and the door is in very good shape, (no rust) but the window and lock mechanisms need lube. The upper outer cat whisker was separated so I found a new one in a set I got years ago from George and swapped it in. You can follow these adventures in the video "freshening the H #5".

In freshening the H #6 we flush the brake system, take it for the first drive, look at the rear view mirrors old -- odd -- and new. After several episodes of extended cranking on cold start, I discovered the choke wasn't going closed. A few drops of light oil on the links and pivots followed by vigorous motion on the links, and everybody was happy. On driving the car at medium to heavy throttle, it seemed flat. It had pep, but not the pep you would expect. A review of the carb to carb link showed the front secondary was not opening. An adjustment was made and we will check performance on the next test drive.
