1964 Chrysler 300K Silver Edition

Brakes
The rear brakes lock up way too quickly on this car.
It is pretty much un-driveable.
The shoes were new maybe 15 years ago and have maybe 500 miles on them.

Driver side.

Primary shoe on front, secondary on rear as it should be.
No leaks from wheel cylinder.

Maybe a hint of a leaking axle seal but the shoes look clean.

Drum measures 11.032"

A little chipping on the shoe but I don't think it is too bad.
This is the side I think was the worst for grabbing.

Passenger side.

Drum measure 11.032"

This one has been a head scratcher. Why are the brakes so touchy? We had the booster rebuilt, we removed the dual master cylinder and went back to a single master, we checked the shoes (look fine) and drums (measure fine, look fine). The brakes are still too touchy.

I came across an article regarding brake shoe grinding. It suggested that these shoes might not fit the drums. Although I could have sent the shoes out for grind, we have other shoes to swap in. We did that and bingo, the touchy brakes went away.
