Golden Lion Grrrages

We button up the brake system and remove the gas tank for inspection. The tank looks great from the outside but is bad on the inside. The old gasoline has turned to tar. When we removed the sender, the fuel sock and the sender float were stuck to the bottom of the tank. The sending unit was beyond saving. We got a new tank from Murray and installed along with a new sender. The video for these adventures is here.
While playing with the gas tank we heard about a device that will correct the calibration error we experience with these new senders. It is called a "meter match". We hope to have a review on this device in the near future.

The car presently has the steering wheel from a 60 NYr because the F wheel has lost all of its clear. It will be easier to paint the green section tan than to attempt to replace the clear.

The NYr wheel.

The 300F wheel.

In the process of reviewing steering wheels, we decided to make a steering wheel page for Letter Cars. You can see that here. That led to a page on Letter Car horn buttons, which is here.

Then we got sidetracked into a investigation of F & G exhaust manifold heat risers. That led to a whole web page by itself, which you can find here.

A warm weekend presented itself and we had the chance to run the car for an extended period. Click here for that video. We ran the car for a half hour, which is something the car hasn't done in 25 years. This extended run gave us the chance to get heat into the system and the longer it ran, the better it ran. The new fuel pump and carb kits had no leaks, the rad thermostat opened and circulated with no leaks. It is a step in the right direction.

New tires for the car. These are P215-14 and they fit fine. I washed the wheel covers and installed. The wheel covers are in very good condition with very few dents. New center medals and gears are available from the club. The wheel covers still have the part number inked on the back sides.
