1957 Chrysler

Carburetor

The Carter WCFB was used on most Chryslers in 1957 with the AFB used late in the model year.
To me, the WCFB is a dinosaur compared with the AFB and I am glad
this late production Saratoga retains its original AFB carb 2686S.

There are several interesting details that differ from the later AFBs.
To illustrate we compare to a 66 model.

This is the front of the 57. Note how low the idle adjuster screws are positioned.

The front of a 66 AFB for comparison.

The accelerator pump link on the 57 is different and the actuator is retained by a spring loaded clip.

The 66, with the normal "S" link and hair pin clip.

The 57 base is square.

The 65 base is more "artful" and note how much longer are the throttle shafts.

The rear of the 57 carb is plain.

The rear of the 66.

The top of the 57. Note the small vent pipes extending above the casting and the flat caps on the power step up rods.

On the 66 the pipes are flush and the rod covers are domed.
