This car was sold new in Philadelphia. The first owner was a mechanic named Glenn Smith who ran a garage. He bought it from Videon Chrysler. We have the original bill of sale. A year after purchase, Glenn had it repainted black with a white top. Rick Yiengst was a kid on a bicycle at that time and would ride over to see this car.
Years later Rick was talking with Don Rook. He asked Don if he knew of any Cs for sale in the area. Don pointed him to a guy in Yonkers who turned out to be the son of Glenn Smith. He had a black and white C for sale and it was the same car – when he opened the hood there was the original green. This was sometime about 1986. Rick bought the car, had it restored and repainted correct green. Fast forward to 2022, the car comes to the Golden Lion Garages.

The 300C was available in 5 exterior colors: Jet Black, Parade Green, Copper Brown, Gauguin Red, and Cloud White. Cloud White was the most popular color at 61.5% of production (1,386). 19% were black (422), 8% Gauguin Red (183), 5% Copper Brown (111), and 5% Parade Green (103).
17 parade green C's had the optional AC. 6 had the HiWay HiFi. 4 had both HiWay and AC.
This car is equipped with power seat, windows, dual mirrors, Touch Tune radio with rear speaker, tinted glass and rear defogger. It was built January 26, 1957.
When the car arrived it was running on 7 cylinders. We found the #1 cylinder plug wire had pinched under the wire cover causing the misfire. The heater blower box was loose on the firewall. We found the base was cracked and the anchor bolts stripped so replacement pieces were installed. We also installed the Grady safety hood catch. No C D or E should be without one.
