1964 Chrysler 300K Silver Edition Page 3 I had a minute between projects to address the front bumper tilt. These 63-64 bumpers with their rear facing side wings can really show sag or tilt if you don't get the bumper installed correctly. This car had the sag but this is a quick and easy job to correct. There are four 7/8" bolts holding the bracket to the frame. A 3/16" shim placed on the top half of the bracket will bring the sag back to level.
You may have noticed we installed 15" wheels and J wheelcovers.
I think these wheels make the car look so much better. Additionally, the profile (rolling radius) of 15" radials very closely matches that of the original
belted 14" tires so your speedometer error is much less, And as of today, 15" radials are easier to get than 14". I am
no fan of specialty tire companies. Whenever I can, I look for Michelin or Cooper or Nexen. I want a company that makes thousands of tires and has the problem solving experience which comes with mass production.
The driver tail pipe had some holes by the rear hanger. Once we got it off, we saw there were more holes and the pipe was ready to replace. I rummaged through the garage and found a set of new 1962 Chrysler tail pipes that I purchased years ago from another project. They are a match for the 64 and we will set to the installation.
